COCBN to Launch Online Webcast Network

The Church of Christ Broadcast Network (COCBN) will launch its long anticipated online webcast network on May 1, 2008. The network will feature nationally recognized programs by the churches of Christ around the country. COCBN will also feature local congregational programming provided by those congregations considered to be local COCBN affiliate stations. These affiliate stations will broadcast their own programming on their respective websites using COCBN technology.

COCBN has been providing churches of Christ and Christian ministries with technical assistance for almost four years since its inception in 2004. Many congregations look to COCBN for technology consulting on various services such as website development, audio/video installations, security monitoring, and video streaming.

Since the beginning, COCBN has been developing video streaming technology to form the foundation of the broadcast network. It was always the goal of the founder Hammond Burke to develop a 24/7 broadcast network for the churches of Christ and to provide this network as an outlet for the local congregations to spread the gospel of Christ.

The idea was to establish an online presence around the world before expanding into more physical and expensive markets such as television or radio. The goal is to build a viewer base with as little overhead cost as possible while delivering a quality personal interactive experience. The Internet helps to fulfill both of these goals.

In 2004 Mr. Burke was approached by the late Johnnie Wilder, Jr. about creating an a cappella radio webcast for Wilder’s company Shalonda, Inc. After about a year of development and collaboration between the two, wVusic105am.com was launched as the first complete a cappella web radio station.

Mr. Burke continued to develop web streaming technology for COCBN while updating wVusic over the years. After the passing of Mr. Wilder several years later, Mr. Burke entered to an agreement with Carla Hawkins of Shalonda, Inc. to continue developing wVusic.

Over the years COCBN has contacted various church of Christ television ministries who have agreed to provide COCBN with programming. Several of these programs are “What Do the Scriptures Say?”, “Focus On Truth”, and “The Way of Salvation” featuring Dr. Carl Baccus. All of these programs will be a part of the debut launch of the Network.

Mr. Burke believes the gospel should be available to the world and that web streaming technology is a gift from God to help that happen. He believes it is the responsibility as the kingdom of God for believers to promote this technology and help save souls to Christ. “Together we are Reaching the Masses One Multitude at a TIME!
