The Church of Christ Broadcast Network (COCBN) will launch a disaster relief website to be used by the churches of Christ for disasters around the country. The website relief.cocbn.org will contain information regarding services available through the churches, as well as, the latest news about current disasters.
COCBN is known for video streaming and technology consulting for the churches of Christ. When hurricane Katrina came, the churches were overwhelmed with the task of mobilizing and organizing ministries and services to minister to the needs on thousands of displaced people from the hurricane affected area. Using technology that COCBN was currently developing for the use of church intranets, the technology consultants quickly adapted their technology to serve the needs of the church during the disaster relief effort.
Some of the features of the website will include online forms for the intake of disaster victims, churches with services available, resource links for other organizations, and a national bennevolence program to allow churches to assist each other with financial aid.
The website is scheduled to launch Monday September 26, 2005. Once launched, the website will be used for future disasters around the country and eventually the world.
